Anxiety is a sensation of fear, worry, and stress and quite a few sufferers feel alone and forsaken.nnCoping with anxiety is something that most of us have to do daily. Millions of people all over the world have to handle various forms of anxiety producing conditions. While the majority of people only have moderate responses to different types of stress, others have irrational responses to stressful circumstances that can result in anxiety attacks.nnCoping with anxiety is not really problematic if you know how your system responds to stress. Note that when dealing with stressful situations, our bodies go through three different stages:nnThe first stage that our system goes through in coping with anxiety is the fight or flight response. When you feel threatened, your mind sends warning signs to the other components of your body. Adrenalin rushes through your blood and you feel immense energy and apprehension in your system as your body readies to run or to fight. At this point anxiety can lead to perspiration, upset stomach, a racing heartbeat and muscle tension. It can also lead to headaches along with palms that sweat quite a lot.nnThe second stage occurs when the stressful situation persists beyond the flight or fight stage and your mind registers resistance. This means that your mind sends another group of messages to the different places of your body. As a result of these messages sent by the brain to your body, your body will release several hormones to help it contend with the anxiety.nnOnce the stressful situation is over, your system will now enter into the third phase which is exhaustion. Now, you should not be alarmed if you feel exhausted. Exhaustion is a sign that your system needs to replenish the energies it consumed in coping with anxiety. If you feel fatigued, rest for a while.nnAcquiring Some Time OffnnIt is good to take some time off after an anxiety attack. According to experts, coping with anxiety could take a toll on your body, thus it is important that your body is provided ample time to recuperate. Always remember that your body has just gone through some strenuous situations and it now is easily vulnerable to other types of stress. Try not to subject yourself to more stress at this time because your body may not have enough energy to cope with additional anxiety right now.nnDepending on the situation that you have just undergone, it would be wise to take a couple of days off to help you rest. If you can't afford to take the day off, at least go somewhere to cool down. A walk outside and breath of fresh air might do you a lot of good.nnIf you experience frequent recurring anxiety attacks, there are many programs that can help.
