Cycling enthusiasts must be decked out in the right cycling shoes. Apart from looking cool, they have a massively important part to play in the serious bike cyclist’s arsenal. The cycling shoes clip into the pedals in a two, three, or four hole system, so it is important that you find a pair that match your pedals and bike. Once they are clipped in bike riders can push as well as pull on the pedals which in turn produces a lot more power and takes the worry of slipping off the pedals away.
These cycling shoes are not designed to walk in as they are rigid so all the power can go directly to the pedals and they would be uncomfortable to walk in for any length of time as they don't flex.
There are a few leading companies when it comes to making cycling shoes. The foremost is Japanese company Shimano. They have a great selection of all types of cycling shoes for all types of riders varying in price from under $100 to over $500. It is a fairly expensive item and one that you have to get right in order to get the best performance out of your cycling shoe.
Sidi and Pearl are two other well thought of cycling shoe manufacturers who also have a great selection for the amateur and professional alike. Then, of course there is Adidas and Nike who are trying to take a part of the cycling market too that offer some quality shoes at a lower price. Generally, not what the pros would wear, but make it affordable to the novice.
Cycling shoes are very light and breathable so when it is a little cold outside and wet, but you still have to get that ride in, you can buy some shoe covers that have cut-outs in the bottom so you can clip in your pedals, but will keep your feet warm and dry on those not so nice training days.
All these products can be found in their related website store or in your local bike shop. Or you can go to Amazon.com and find a pair you are looking for at a great price. I would suggest however checking and fitting in a local bike store first before shopping on the internet. You are going to get a better price from sites like Amazon.com but especially for cycling shoes, you really need to try them on before you buy.
