A good relationship with your roommate is important to lead a pleasant and supportive college life. Good Roommate Relationship Tip #9: Address issues when they become big If you have not addressed issues when they were small, then they might become big issues eventually. It is essential that you do not neglect or ignore the issue any further. Address it before the issue creates a rift between you and your roommate. It is important not to lose control over your anger, your voice or your manners while discussing the issues with your roommate. Be calm but firm and explain him/her the issue and work together to find a solution that works for both. Good Roommate Relationship Tip #10: Follow the Golden Rule Treat your roommate like you would want to be treated. Even if your relationship with your roommate does not turn out to be well eventually, at least it will leave you feeling good if you followed this rule. It would mean that you behaved like an adult should and gave your roommate the same treatment as you would expect for yourself. Good Roommate Relationship Tip #11: Keep communication lines open at all times New problems may keep arising between the two of you. It is important at such times to ensure that you keep your communication lines open. Talking out things and finding win-win solutions can work for both instead of keeping a grudge and feeling unhappy with your roommate. Open communication lines will ensure that you are able to maintain a good relationship with your roommate.
