Understanding The Eight Best Natural Flu Remedies

For natural flu remedies to be successful they must address the twin issues of how the virus spreads and the best method for treating an individual that is recovering in a natural manner.

Most people are aware that the flu is more widespread in winter. 1. Blow your nose: Due to the cold temperature in winter months the nose will produce more mucus. This should be blown out as opposed to sucked in. Do not blow your nose too hard as you may damage your ear drums. It is important to clean your hands after blowing.

2. Rest: The body needs rest if it gets infected with the flu virus. As soon as you feel that you have the flu you should stay indoors so the immune system can devote more energy to building its strength.

3. Gargle: Having a sore throat is often a symptom of the flu. It can bring a little relief to gargle with warm salty water a few times a day. The throat can also be soothed by drinking a glass of hot water mixed with honey.

4. Hot Shower: A hot steamy shower has the same benefits as a sauna. The warm moist air massages the nasal passages and relaxes all your muscles. If you have a bathtub then a long hot soak can have a great effect.

5. Balm: A useful way to clear breathing passages and get an immediate response is to use a balm or a salve. These usually contain menthol, camphor, or eucalyptus. When applied to the nasal area they can also provide a numbing sensation.

6. Herbs and Supplements: There are a few different products available at health stores that can help the immune system fight back stronger. Garlic, Astragalus, and Colloidal Silver are known to have positive effects.

7. Vitamin C: Today it is common to find that people do not take the right amount of Vitamin C as required on a daily basis. By simply drinking a pint of orange juice the body will have a much stronger metabolism.

8. Support your head: At night you should keep your head raised slightly as then the nasal passages can drain of liquid more easily.
