Whether seeking help for alcohol addiction personally or looking at an alcoholism treatment center for the benefit of a loved one, it will help to keep the tips listed below in mind. • Condition of the rehab – Look at the building, its lawn and even the paint job of rehab. If the rehab has a dilapidated look it will make the patient feel morose, thus making chances of recovery very low. Most rehabs make a special effort to create a warm environment and try their best not to look like a hospital. So judge the rehab by its physical appearance even if they are offering satisfactory treatment. • Staff of the rehab – The doctors and helpers at the rehab must welcome the patient rather than have a condescending approach. Just like a toddler prefers a school where the teacher is welcoming, an alcoholic would prefer a rehab staff that is likable. While there will be a need to be firm with the patient during the detox process, it is also important that the patient sees his/her benefit in such firmness. So try to interact with majority of the staff so that you can judge their compassion toward the patient. • Philosophy of the rehab – One of the main aspects of judging an alcoholism treatment center is to look into its philosophy. Some rehabs follow a more secular approach while others may promote solace under the wings of God. Go with what you think will work best in your case. Inquire about the various forms of treatment that the rehab will use and what medications the patient will be exposed to. Judging an alcoholism treatment center based on these aspects will help you pick a rehab that is most appropriate for your needs. Never make the mistake of joining a rehab without actually going and checking out the place personally. Remember a lot of aspects of rehabs are glorified in advertisements over the internet, etc and the real deal maybe very different. It can also turn out to be much inferior to the one less propagated.
