Anxiety disorder refers to a set of medical conditions, which is marked by abnormal as well as pathological fears and anxiety. Such medical conditions may or may not be related with each other.
As it is, anxiety and fear are natural reactions of the human mind, when faced with fearful or uncomfortable conditions. For example people usually feel some sort of inhibition or anxiety, before a big examination, or a presentation. Similarly, when you are about to start a new project, you may be gripped with anxiety, as well. However, when this feeling of anxiety manifests itself excessively, then it becomes a matter of worry.
Anxiety disorders are usually incapacitating chronic situations that might be present in a human from a very early age. It may also be triggered by certain circumstances, which may have a major impact of the psyche of a person. Although in general day to day usage, the terms anxiety and fear are generally used in the same sense, in clinical terminology, they are completely different from each other. So, anxiety may be defined as an emotional state of unpleasant nature, the cause for which may either not be readily recognizable, or may be beyond normal human control. Fear on the other hand, may be defined as a physiological response in regard to a recognizable threat.
Anxiety disorder, takes into account both fears and anxieties and are generally correlated with various other mental disorders, especially depression, which is one of the most common conditions in case of anxiety disorders. As a matter of fact, according to a rough estimate, as many as six out of every person suffering from anxiety disorder also suffer from clinical depression. This correlation might be explained by the fact that similar environmental conditions may trigger both the condition.
It is interesting to note that anxiety disorder is not exactly one condition, and consists of several conditions, such as generalized anxiety disorder, Panic disorder, Phobia, Agoraphobia, Social anxiety disorder, Post-traumatic stress disorder or Separation anxiety disorder. Now, anxiety disorder symptoms largely depend on the kind of anxiety disorder that you are suffering from. However, there are certain symptoms, which are largely present in almost all such conditions. Headache, muscle spasms, sweating, palpitations, as well as hypertension, along with flares of high stress are some of the most common anxiety disorder symptoms, which are generally visible in people suffering from such a condition. In certain cases, the person may also suffer from fatigue or exhaustion.
However, anxiety disorder is very much of a treatable condition and with the help of modern medication; you can easily treat this condition and lead a normal life.
